TrekMe is an Android application designed to provide users with real-time location tracking on a map and additional beneficial information offline, eliminating the necessity for an active internet connection, except during map creation. This tool proves to be highly advantageous for hiking, cycling, or any other outdoor pursuit.
Within this app, users select a specific area to download and create a map. Subsequently, the map becomes accessible for offline use, with GPS functionality remaining operational even without mobile data.
* Download from USGS, OpenStreetMap, SwissTopo, IGN (France and Spain)
Additional topographic map sources are slated for inclusion.

The developers have demonstrated a keen focus on efficiency, low battery consumption, and seamless user experience.

Given that extensive maps can be data-heavy and exceed internal memory capacity, users with SD cards can make use of this external storage option.

For individuals possessing an external GPS device with Bluetooth capabilities*, TrekMe offers the option to link this hardware with the application in lieu of the internal GPS mechanism on your device. This feature proves particularly advantageous for activities demanding higher precision such as aeronautics or professional topography that necessitate more frequent position updates than once per second.

* Privacy
While recording a GPX route, the app accumulates location data even when not actively in use. However, rest assured that your location details remain private and GPX files are stored solely on your device.
